St. Francis 2

Gallen Utd 1

Another great team performance from the young Saints in Iona Pk this morning.

Lead today by Rian Gaynor.

Gallen made the short journey to St Francis FC Athlone this morning with a depleted team due to GAA commitments in Offaly. And to their credit provided very tough opposition.

Another early goal from Daniel with the assist from Eduardo.

Who took advantage of the high line was able to get in behind for a great team goal.

What followed was

A hectic 20mins of a first half, A solid back four from Gallen played deeper and a determined St.Francis midfield piling on the pressure, gave little in the way of scoring opportunities.

Gallen were awarded a penalty. When a clearance kick from a corner, hit a players hand. The resulting penalty was sloted in to make it 1-1.

The Saints made a change in the second half, and while dominating the possession They still failed to score.

In the 65min, a loose ball was picked up by Aaron and he drove down the left. His shot/Cross clipped there defender and went in over the keepers head.

The Saints had another goal disallowed for offside in the dying mins. But credit to the boys they kept fighting.

There was some stand out performances from the Saints. Fogarty, Eduardo Aaron solid all game.

Our Man of the Match goes to Van, for his selfless box to box performance.
